Spring...inside and out

Last night it rained so hard that the sound of the rain woke me up. I could hear it hitting the windows and roof with a such force and I was so thankful to be snuggled in my warm bed. Waking to grey skies once again, I huddled in a blanket out on the front porch for a quiet time as I read the Word and prayed. Looking at the dismal weather, I tried to encourage myself with the old adage, "April showers bring May flowers." I do love flowers!

Something good has to come from all this rain and dreariness, right? Getting on with my day, some business book work in the office and an appointment with a web consultant, I was so preoccupied that I never even glanced out the window. My older son was doing some laundry and called to me, "Mom, come out here for a minute." I followed the sound of his voice out the front door and there he stood, with his arms raised high, facing the sunshine and increasing blue skies. I had missed it...the clouds shrinking back and the sun coming out. What a welcome surprise!

I looked around and all the flowers were brilliant and glistening in the sunlight.  Grabbing my camera, I just had to capture a few photos...to remind myself that beauty often follows dark days.

Walking back inside, I was glad I had added a few flashes of color to remind me of spring throughout the house.

The wreath on the front door...

Bright green pillows and baby's breath in a vase in the living room...

Bright green and pink candles in the dining room, left over from the Sweet Pea baby shower:).

A little bird's nest in another corner of the dining room...

I just love the bright greens and pinks of spring! As I mentioned in an earlier post, the season of Spring fills me with hope as I see things coming to life right before my eyes. How about you? Have you brought a little taste of spring into your home this year?

I'll leave you with one of my favorite songs by Louis Armstrong..."What a Wonderful World." Happy spring, dear friends!
