A big birthday celebration...

The past weekend was full of wonderful birthday celebrations! I find it hard to believe that special people in my life are actually turning 60! How is that possible when I am still sooooo young...mentally, anyway!!! My sister, Vangie,  and a friend, Lynette, actually turned 60 on the same day last week and I had the joy of celebrating life with each of them.

My friend's sister, Michelle, organized and booked a fun night for Lynette's birthday celebration.  We met at Lynette's and admired her new kitchen. (I will be posting about that soon, since my husband was the contractor and I assisted with some interior design). Her kitchen is simply lovely and we toasted the completion of her remodel...always the best part after weeks of living uprooted in dust and mess!

Soon a limousine pulled up and we took a quick photo before we began our night out! The limo was just the perfect size for the six of us and beautifully appointed inside.

Off we went to Seattle to have appetizers at Rione XIII, a wonderful small Italian restaurant on Capitol Hill. We all shared several small plates of antipasti, a pizza (Italian style with thin crust, no sauce, a little prosciutto, just a little Parmesan cheese...delish!), and wonderful warm herb Focaccia bread.

Hopping back into the limo, we were off to our next stop for dinner...La Cocina Oaxaquena...an authentic Mexican restaurant, also on Capitol Hill. I had some delicious fish tacos...one of my favorite things!

I had to take a picture of an eating bar with a live edge to show my husband, since he's been making live edge furniture pieces for folks in Leavenworth and Plain.

After dinner, we moved on to our last stop...a parfait bar outside of Trove, a Korean restaurant. We had two choices..."new school" Strawberry Shortcake Parfait or "old school" Mud slide Parfait. The parfaits are served in a glass jar which you get to keep...all for $6.00. If you know me at all, you can probably guess that I went for the Mudslide one...nothing like coffee ice cream and chocolate and chunks of Oreo type cookie together!

What a fun evening! We had such a great time celebrating a "big" birthday, life, and friendship together! Not having to think about driving, traffic, and parking in the city was so wonderful...we enjoyed our limo time!

I am so thankful for this group of ladies...and the fun we have together! We are somewhat eclectic...with differing faiths and politic views...yet we enjoy the common bond of shared experiences raising children in Lake Stevens and the friendship that formed through it all. Our conversations around the dinner table are always interesting and full of laughter and delicious food! So to Lynette...L'chaim, Viva, and Happy Birthday! Warmly, Gracia

P.S. I'll be posting about my sister, Vangie's birthday later this week!

How about you? I would love to hear how you have celebrated a big birthday, celebrating those decades of life!
