Pink and Gold Bridal Shower...

The arrival of summer always means lots of weddings! A special young woman in our church is getting married in July...the daughter of our former pastor. Cassandra, (aka Sandra or Sand) is girlie girl...she loves all things sparkly and pink!

Her mother, Lori, now lives in North Dakota, but my friend, Lois, and I were able to find a date that Lori would be in town for other wedding preparations and schedule a bridal shower. What a joy it is to host a shower for these young women who we watched grow up and had the privilege to be a part of their lives! (You may remember, last summer Lois and I, along with another friend, Karen, hosted a bridal shower for Sandra's sister Abby...see here).

Sandra's wedding colors are pink and gold so we went with that color scheme. Lois spray painted ball mason  jars gold and dipped them in mod podge and pink glitter for flower vases. She and I both spray painted cake plates, serving plates, and candle holders gold as well. (The cake plates on the two cakes on the right were made with glass candle holders and plates from the Dollar Store glued together...not bad for 2 bucks and a little spray paint!). I have to tell you something about Lois. She has been spray painting things silver and gold for years...way before Pinterest ever existed. As she said, "I was into gold way before gold was cool!"

Here's a little closer look at all the gold loveliness...

Since the shower took place in the afternoon, our menu was pretty simple...fresh fruit, crackers and cheese, fresh veggie cups, hand dipped chocolate strawberries, and three choices of cake; carrot, french vanilla, and strawberry.

One of the joys of summer around here is the open air fruit markets that open in May until October. The Pike Street Market vendors from Seattle bring beautiful assortments of fresh cut flowers to the local markets that are so reasonable...lovely bouquets from $5 to $15. And they will even custom arrange your own bouquet for you. I chose Sweet William in a variety of pinks and white baby's breath for our gold mason jars. The peonies on the cakes came from my yard...love peonies!

The bride to be was giddy and thrilled with all her gifts. So fun to see her excitement for the upcoming wedding and creating their first home of their own!

Here is the beautiful bride to be:

And we were so happy her mother (and sisters and sister in law) could join us for the shower!

So now you know...gold spray paint can be used in a myriad of ways! Wishing Sandra and James nothing but happiness on their wedding day in July and the years to follow! Warmly, Gracia
