Vintage fun...

Saturday a friend and I went to a Vintage Market in Anacortes, WA called Island Chicks. The whole "Vintage" thing has just grown like crazy across the country and has fairly recently come to Everett and Snohomish...big time. Over the past three years or so I've shopped at several of these vintage markets held in barns or the fair grounds. It's been fun to see how the vendors re-purpose old things...like the chandelier above made from vintage punch bowl glasses!

Previous to the Vintage craze, your main option to sell used, sometimes old, items was to hold a garage sale. Then came Ebay, and then Craigslist, and now, shop space is being leased to sell these items. Like any retail space, the better the vendor is at displaying these vintage items in an attractive way, or re-purposing them into something pretty or useful, the more successful she is.

Snohomish has really changed since the downturn in the economy of 2008 and following years. A town that used to be known as the antique mecca of the Northwest with antique stores galore, has morphed into vintage, rustic, and French themed shops.  Antiques found there were usually quite pricey, but now for way less money, you can find furniture, kitchen items, and home decor...often more mid century in vintage. For those of us interested in interior home design and staging, Snohomish is a wonderful resource, and in any event, a fun browsing and shopping experience! It's one of my favorite local "escapes" when I need a break from whatever work I'm doing:). Several of my favorite vintage shops are:

When you need a little break, grab a friend, get a coffee, and visit Snohomish. Let me know which shops you like!
