An Updated Classic Craftsman...
/Do you like to watch the show Rehab Addict? This Craftsman home, the final one we toured on the 21st Annual Home and Garden in Leavenworth, WA, would have been a perfect candidate for that show!
The current owners have done a remarkable job updating this Craftsman, which was built in 1910. Interestingly, the owner of the Scandinavian Farmhouse was raised in this house!
I loved the covered porch with the sturdy columns, the beautiful windows, and beautiful door as you enter the home.
To the immediate right of the staircase is a vibrant and warm library. Look at the color...red walls and pale blue ceiling! Wouldn't you love to curl up with a book here?
To the immediate left, you enter into the spacious living and dining room, with the original woodwork surrounding the fireplace.
Did you notice the unique light fixture? I wondered if it might be an antique but the homeowner said she found this one and the hallway fixture at a lighting store going out of business in Seattle. The fixtures certainly work in this house!
Just down the hall is the totally remodeled kitchen. Though the kitchen is obviously up to date with today's trends, I still think it works in this classic home. What a wonderful place to prepare and serve a meal! The old dough bowl filled with apples was a lovely touch.
As you exit the home out the kitchen door, you walk out onto this delightful patio! Loved the lights in the trees and stone floor. Can't you just picture sitting out here on a warm evening?
A little further out in the yard, there was an outdoor fireplace, another gathering spot.
Looking back at the house from the yard, you get a good look at the Craftsman architecture.
Hope you enjoyed coming along on our tour of homes in Leavenworth! If you missed the earlier posts, you can see them here and here. I love home tours and always appreciate those who open their homes to strangers.
On the eve of this memorable election day, I hope you can rest in the knowledge that God is sovereign and often works in mysterious ways. He never slumbers or sleeps (Psalm 121). As my husband and I watched the final game of the World Series last week, I was disheartened by the ugly and hateful tone of the political ads. Yet, as the Cubs triumphed in the win, I took heart in the things that unite us as Americans...the love of baseball, the love of country, the love of our constitution...in God we trust.
Be back soon! Warmly, Gracia
