Street of Dreams 2016...

For a number of years, attending the Street of Dreams near Seattle was a fun thing to do for anyone who loved to look at houses and interior design. Then the recession came and the builders in this area no longer held this event. I was bummed! I always enjoyed walking through the homes, looking at the latest color schemes and finish surfaces. In fact, when we built our own first "dream" home back in 1992, I used several ideas I had seen in Street of Dreams home.

Fast forward a few years and now I am working with a client who is building a large custom home. She had asked me to research and see if there were any Street of Dreams or Parade of Homes near by that we could visit together. The closest one that I could find was in Lake Oswego, Oregon, just outside of Portland. We jumped online and booked a waterfront hotel on Lake Oswego and put the date on our calendars for late August.

The day arrived for our drive and fortunately, the weather was lovely. We arrived in Lake Oswego shortly after 1 pm and decided to catch a quick lunch before venturing out to see the homes on the tour.

The view from the balcony in our suite:

We grabbed a quick bite at one of the restaurants with a patio right on the lakefront.

After a short drive, we arrived at the Street of Dreams homes on Pete's Mountain. There are five homes completed, out of a plat of nine home lots, all over an acre. All of the homes overlook a private 23 acre vineyard and the Barrel House, a wine tasting barn. The residents can use the Barrel House for private events. In addition to the vineyard, the homes have a view of beautiful Mt. Hood.

We began at the first home, named Mon Coeur, french for "my heart." This home was presold, and consisted of 8,263 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and 3 half baths, in addition to a pool and Carriage House, designed for the couple's aging parents. The home is a combination of Hamptons style and French Farmhouse. I loved the shiplap walls, the Lacanche range in the kitchen, and the outdoor fire pit and seating areas! The Carriage House was very charming...I could live there easily! I'll quit talking now and just let you graze through the photos...not the best since I only had my iphone, although I did snag a few from pinterest.

AND, finally, the breathtaking view of Mt Hood above the vineyard!

That concludes my little tour of my favorite house at the Street of Dreams! We spent almost 5 hours going through the houses...fun, but exhausting! We ended the evening by having a delicious dinner at a little Italian place in the village of Lake Oswego...so charming!

I'll be back soon with some other photos of Street of Dreams homes...and then a fun little tour of several homes in Leavenworth, WA! Have a wonderful weekend, friends! Warmly, Gracia
